The Board of Trustees of Possible Always serves as stewards of mission, strategy, and sustainability for a statewide 988 crisis and recovery organization built on hope, belonging, and lived experience. Board members are champions of innovation, accountability, and community connection—ensuring that Florida’s most vulnerable residents are never alone in moments of crisis.

Priority Areas of Expertise

To support our mission and growth stage, Possible Always seeks a diverse, interdisciplinary Board with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • • Licensed mental health professionals (LCSW, LMHC, PsyD, MD)

    • 988, crisis line, or mobile crisis leadership experience

    • Suicide prevention, peer support, or trauma-informed systems

  • • Individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges, substance use recovery, or suicide loss

    • Peer support leaders and advocates grounded in recovery-oriented systems of care (ROSC)

    • Those who can elevate authentic community voice at the governance level

  • • Experience with Medicaid, managed care, or public behavioral health systems

    • Population health, quality improvement, or care coordination expertise

    • Knowledge of Florida’s behavioral health and crisis response landscape

  • • Digital health, AI, or health technology leadership

    • Experience scaling platforms, data governance, or cybersecurity

    • Interest in ethical technology use in mental health and crisis response

  • • Nonprofit finance, audit, or compliance experience

    • Knowledge of federal and state funding, grants, and contracts

    • Risk management and sustainability planning

  • • Nonprofit governance, healthcare law, or regulatory compliance

    • Familiarity with Florida statutes, 988 policy, or federal grant oversight

    • Experience in board governance best practices

  • • Serve as ambassadors for the mission and values of Possible Always

    • Attend and actively participate in board and committee meetings

    • Provide strategic guidance, oversight, and fiduciary stewardship

    • Support fundraising, partnerships, and community engagement

    • Champion equity, lived experience leadership, and ethical governance

About Possible Always

Possible Always is a Florida-based 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to building circles of belonging where those who have been there walk alongside those who are there now. As a statewide 988 backup center and peer-led recovery organization, we exist to ensure that every person knows they are not alone—and that a path forward is possible, always. Our work is rooted in lived experience, compassion, and the belief that healing happens through connection, dignity, and community.

Role Summary

Board Members of Possible Always serve as stewards of the organization’s mission, values, and long-term sustainability. Board members provide governance, strategic guidance, and community leadership to ensure the organization fulfills its purpose with integrity, accountability, and impact. Board service is a meaningful opportunity to shape the future of crisis care, recovery, and peer support in Florida and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

Governance & Oversight

• Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Possible Always

• Ensure sound governance, ethical leadership, and fiduciary responsibility

• Participate in setting strategic direction and monitoring organizational performance

• Approve policies, budgets, and strategic plans

Strategic & Mission Leadership

• Provide thought leadership informed by professional expertise or lived experience

• Support the growth and sustainability of a statewide 988 and peer support model

• Champion innovation, equity, and trauma-informed approaches

Advocacy & Ambassadorship

• Serve as an ambassador for Possible Always in the community

• Build relationships that advance partnerships, funding, and awareness

• Help amplify the organization’s mission and impact

Engagement & Participation

• Attend and actively participate in board meetings and committee work

• Prepare for meetings by reviewing materials in advance

• Collaborate respectfully and constructively with fellow board members, team members, and advisory council

Desired Experience & Qualities

We welcome individuals with experience or lived perspective in areas such as:

• Behavioral health, crisis response, or peer support

• Healthcare, public health, or human services

• Lived experience of recovery, supporting loved ones, or navigating systems

• Nonprofit governance, finance, legal, or policy expertise

• Technology, innovation, or data-informed decision-making

• Philanthropy, fundraising, or community partnership development

Above all, we value integrity, empathy, curiosity, and a commitment to equity and belonging.

Time Commitment

Approximately 6–10 hours per month through:

• Quarterly board meetings (with additional committee meetings as needed)

• Participation in strategic planning and occasional special initiatives
